About the event

This two-part program explores the tax issues that arise across general civil litigation, personal injury, employment disputes, divorce, and probate matters. Attendees will learn how tax consequences are shaped by pleadings, damage allocations, and settlement drafting, and how to avoid costly mistakes for their clients.

Part Two addresses settlement drafting and allocation clauses, employment tax exposure, information reporting obligations, divorce-related tax pitfalls, and probate considerations affecting estates and beneficiaries. The program highlights common tax traps, key Internal Revenue Code provisions and leading court decisions, and practical drafting strategies to reduce risk. Through real-world examples, attendees will learn how early attention to tax consequences can improve client outcomes, enhance settlement leverage, and prevent unintended liability or malpractice exposure.

Doors open at 11:45. Presentation begins at noon.
