This two-part program explores the tax issues that arise across general civil litigation, personal injury, employment disputes, divorce, and probate matters. Attendees will learn how tax consequences are shaped by pleadings, damage allocations, and settlement drafting, and how to avoid costly mistakes for their clients.


Part One focuses on damage characterization and income inclusion, including the tax treatment of physical injury recoveries, emotional distress damages, lost wages, punitive damages, interest, and attorney’s fees.
