About Us

The Woodlands Bar Association was founded in 2006 to promote and develop the legal profession in The Woodlands, to provide networking and continuing legal education opportunities for its members, and to provide community service in areas where the members of the Association can use their unique legal skills to provide service to others. With an estimated 700 lawyers working or living in The Woodlands, The Woodlands Bar Association has a lot to offer.  For information about joining the WBA, please click on the Membership tab of the navigation bar or contact the Vice President of Membership at woodlandsbarassociation@gmail.com.

Wills for Heroes

Sue Turney and James Stillwell lead a successful 2010 Wills for Heroes event.  Thirty-seven WBA attorneys and nine staff members volunteered their time for the benefit of The Woodlands Sheriff’s office patrol division VI, SWAT, Administrative Services, and South County Detectives.  The WBA provided seventy-seven wills and ancillary documents for forty-six Heroes and their spouses.

Transition to Practice Program (Mentoring)

Young professionals hear a lot about mentoring, but identifying a mentor can be a challenge.  Beginning February 2011, The Woodlands Bar Association will initiate a new program, Transition to Practice.  Transition to Practice is a structured yearlong mentoring program designed to match experienced attorneys with newly licensed lawyers.  The pairs will attend one hour seminars and meet in small groups or one-on-one.  The program coaches new lawyers in many areas, including law practice management, effective client representation, pro bono opportunities, career development, and other aspects of successfully practicing law.  If you are a practicing attorney who has been licensed for at least five years and are interested in sharing your wisdom and guidance to new lawyers just joining the legal profession, Transition to Practice is for you!  Please find mentor/mentee forms attached.
